Exporting invoices to generic XML

NAVIGATION   > Contracts > Invoice History or Contracts > Invoices & Adjustments > Invoicing / Items to Invoice

You can export your invoices to a generic XML file that can be used to transfer billing data to your external accounting software. For a complete list of accounting integrations with Autotask, refer to the list of accounting integrations on the Datto website.

NOTE   If you are using Sage accounting software, you should use the Export Wizard to export to a Sage-specific XML file. Refer to Exporting billing data using the Export Wizard.

How to...

  1. Run through the Autotask invoicing process. Refer to Selecting items to invoice. When you get to the Process Invoice window, select Create Autotask Invoices and XML File from the Processing Action drop-down menu.

Invoices are generated in Autotask and an XML file is downloaded to your computer.

  1. Click Save and save the XML file to a known file location on your computer.

Refer to XML data mapping for a table outlining each Autotask field that is exported to the XML file.

  1. Navigate to Contracts > Search > Invoice History.
  2. Right-click the invoice and select Export all invoices in this batch as XML.

The XML file is downloaded to your computer.

  1. Click Save and save the file on your computer.
