What is the estimated [period type] price?

Although this is not recommended, it is possible that the contract and the services within the contract have different period types.

EXAMPLE  In the Monthly contract that appears in the image above, the IT: Quarterly Review service has a Quarterly period type. Since Quarterly is a longer duration per period than Monthly, the service's Extended Price displays the Quarterly amount.

Because the Extended Price that appears in the table is based on the period type of the service, it can be difficult to gauge the estimated monthly revenue from the contract.

This is where the Estimated [Period Type] Price comes in.

The Estimated [Period Type] Price displays the price of the contract in terms of the contract's period type, that is, the average amount that the customer will pay each billing period. All calculations will use the price that is current on the date that appears in the Show Data for field.

The price per period is calculated as follows:

  • The Extended Price for all services and service bundles on the contract is converted to the contract period type.

EXAMPLE  For example, if the contract period type is monthly and the service bundle or service period type is quarterly, Autotask will convert the quarterly service bundle or service cost to the monthly cost. For details, see Period type conversion calculations.

  • When all Extended Prices are converted to the price for the contract period type, the Extended Prices are summed.

NOTE  If there is no full period record for the service/bundle (the service was added part-way through the period that you are viewing data for), the Estimated (Monthly) Price will calculate the full period price for that service/bundle and use that in the calculation.
