Device type/category mapping summary

Any product associated with a customer can be tracked in Autotask as a device. Before the implementation of device categories, device types were used to customize the user experience for different types of devices.

Understanding the mapping

With the release of Autotask version 2020.1 and the new device categories, a device category was created for every unique combination of settings present on your Autotask instance's device types. Categories were applied to every device with a type that shared its layout. These categories were named based on the device type that represented the most devices, but you may rename them to your liking on this page.

IMPORTANT  This page will be removed at some point in the future.

To rename a category

  1. To open the page, use the path(s) in the Security and navigation section above.
  2. Hover over the context menu on the left side of the row you want to edit. Select Rename Category.
  3. Type the new name in the text box that opens.
  4. Click Save.
